Daisy Van Cauwenbergh, Mrs. Belgium 2007, was crowned Mrs. Globe 2007 at the annual competition in Rancho Mirage. Eva Rosales, Mrs. Mexico was named 1 st Runner-up. The Ms. US competition runs parallel to the Mrs. Globe competition. Janelle Spahn, Mrs. Colorado, came away with the honors.
The competitions are sponsored by Coors Foundation, Ketel One Vodka, MAC Veneers, Shock Cosmetics, Venus clothing and the S.M.I.L.E Program. The Mrs. Globe and Ms. US competitions raise money for The W.I.N. (Women in Need) Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that specializes in abuse recovery, personal empowerment and self-esteem enhancement.
Unlike most beauty pageants, these competitions train the contestants to return to their home country or state to help other women in need. Dr. Tracy Kemble, President of W.I.N. and the Mrs. Globe pageant was herself a former beauty pageant winner. Aware that beauty and abuse are often linked together, Dr. Kemble transformed the beauty pageant to a positive and growing experience for the contestants. W.I.N. also provides training and counseling outside of the pageant venue. One such program is the Raise Your Standards Program on college campuses.
Veneer services for Mrs. Mexico and Ms. Alabama
One of the ways many contestants improve their self-esteem during the program is with a smile makeover. Nationally prominent dentists donate their services by providing new smiles. This usually entails veneers on the upper front teeth. Dr. Rob Strain of Rancho Mirage provided veneer services for Mrs. Mexico and Ms. Alabama. With her new smile, Eva Rosales was also won the “Face of the Year” Award. She will be featured prominently in national advertising by MAC Veneers.
