The dentist will take care to ensure that the photographs are obtained with the proper consent of the patient and presented before new patients in an appropriate way. Factors Impacting the Price Tag

The actual monetary amount of Clear Correct aligners can differ between two practices and even between two patients at the same practice in a few cases. Some of the key factors that will affect the overall monetary amount include:

Location of the Practice

Practices located in main metropolitan areas or prime urban centers will typically have higher real estate costs and other overheads compared to a dental office located in a small town in an interior region. This will have an impact on the average costs of most of the procedures and services offered at the practice.

Dentist’s Fee

The fee of the cosmetic dentist is an important component in the overall costs. This can vary according to the skills, training and experience of the dentist.

A procedure such as Clear Correct should ideally be performed by a fully trained and experienced dentist because it involves customization at every stage and each patient will have a unique oral anatomy and personal aesthetic goals. Highly desirable and predictable results can be achieved when the patient selects the best possible dentist for this procedure.

Cost Comparison with Alternative Procedures

The cost of Clear Correct system of aligners may be similar to that of traditional metal braces in many cases. But this will depend on the individual case, and how lengthy and complex the smile correction is likely to be for a particular patient. Even in comparison to alternative invisible aligners such as Invisalign, the costs are likely to be similar or more competitive in case of Clear Correct.

One of the benefits with Clear Correct aligners is that if at any stage a modification in the treatment plan is necessary, Clear Correct offers the flexibility to do so. Such adjustments are often done at no additional cost to the patient. Patients in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and other communities and neighborhoods in this area of the southwest have an opportunity to receive Clear Correct invisible braces at the dental office of the remarkable and reliable Dr. Strain.

Financing

If the patient’s dental insurance does not offer coverage for the treatment, they will have the option to get the Clear Correct invisible braces treatment financed from professional medical care finance firms. These firms offer lower interest rates, quick loan approvals and convenient monthly installments.

Dentistry | Dental Implants | Missing Teeth | Palm Springs | Palm Desert CAA smile is one of the most beautiful gifts of nature to both women and men. But sometimes the smile can be compromised because of unsightly teeth, which may occur due to staining, discoloration, chipping, spacing, or crowding.

Fortunately, advanced dentistry solutions are available today to design an attractive smile and restore a patient’s natural looks and self-confidence.

Porcelain Veneers

Dr. Strain works with dedicated and talented ceramic artists who make use of both feldspathic and pressed ceramics to create highly resilient and aesthetically superior dental veneers. These veneers can create the required smile transformation that a patient is looking for. With skillful and creative work of Dr. Strain and his team, the following improvements can be achieved with porcelain veneers to create a beautiful smile design:

  • Lightening dark, stained or discolored teeth
  • Straightening of crooked teeth
  • Creating the appearance of fuller teeth by correcting worn edges
  • Covering the front surface of decayed teeth
  • Closing gaps between teeth, including dark triangles from gum recession
  • Creating more proportionate front teeth
  • Replacing old veneers

High Quality Veneers

Dr. Strain and his team will take care to ensure that most of the existing tooth structure is conserved with very thin or ultra-thin veneers. Particularly, the use of feldspathic ceramic or pressed ceramic veneers can create highly desirable smile design with minimal to no drilling.

In case of feldspathic ceramic, the dental lab technician will mix porcelain powder with liquid and incrementally create veneer in multiple layers. This allows for several shading and characterization options to achieve the most natural looking smile. In case of pressed ceramic, the technician will first build the veneer in wax, and then replace the wax by pressing the ceramic into a mold fabricated from the wax design.

At the Studio Dentistry dental office, both materials are used to create the right smile design. Dr. Strain will engage with the patient to determine which material may be more appropriate in their case. The choice will depend on the condition and strength of the teeth, the degree of characterization needed, whether the patient wants a natural or exceptionally beautiful smile, and the additional cosmetic goals of the patient with regard to veneers.

Selecting the Dentist

The skill and experience of the cosmetic dentist will have a critical impact on the final smile design outcome with veneers. The dentist’s expertise with veneers will be vital in creating the design, preparing the teeth, and applying the bonding.

As a long time member and Accreditation Candidate with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the prolific and sagacious Dr. Strain has the necessary professional credentials and skill set to produce most desirable smile design with veneers. Dr. Strain receives patients from Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and other cities and suburbs across the California landscape for veneers.

Dental Cleanings: Palm Springs | Cosmetic Dentistry | Rancho MiragePreventative dentistry is the most vital aspect for the maintenance of healthy teeth and gums. It largely depends on an individual’s initiative to take prevention seriously and follow the preventative measures with diligence and commitment.

On the part of the dentists, it is important to increase awareness about the importance of preventative dentistry, including dental cleanings. Both adults and children should ideally undergo dental cleanings twice a year to maintain robust oral health.

Dental cleanings become more important for elderly people and individuals with systemic oral health issues. Depending on the patient’s overall condition of the teeth and gums, the dentist can determine the appropriate frequency for dental cleanings. Dr. Rob Strain is a salient and fantastic cosmetic dentist providing preventative as well as advanced oral health procedures to patients in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and surrounding communities.

Common Approach to Dental Cleaning

In its basic form, a dental cleaning procedure will usually involve removal of calculus or tartar, plaque and stains that are present above the gum line. A more thorough dental cleaning is possible in cases where the patient’s overall oral health is sound, and the dental hygienist can reach slightly under the gum line.

More intensive and advanced dental cleaning procedures may be performed at the dental office for a patient whose oral health is weak. Patients with pre-existing pockets in the mouth, or those who suffer from exposed root surfaces due go gum recession, will often require more intensive cleaning treatments.

Major Cleaning Procedures

Gross Debridement

If considerable debris is present above the gum line, the cosmetic dentist may recommend gross debridement treatment. Patients who have not seen a dentist in a long time are typical candidates for this procedure, particularly if they have inflammation and a significant debris build-up. A piezo or ultrasonic scaler can be employed to eliminate the visible deposits from the teeth. After a healing interval, the dentist will perform fine scaling and polishing of the teeth.

Fine Scale and Polish

If gross debridement procedure is performed instead of the standard dental cleaning, it will be typically followed by an appointment for fine scaling and polishing. The dentist may sometimes substitute this with a series of deep scaling treatments, which are not very different from a dental prophylaxis.

Periodontal Scaling

Although periodontal scaling is similar to dental prophylaxis, but it is usually recommended for patients whose root surfaces are exposed due to receding gums. Periodontal scaling is more intensive than regular dental prophylaxis and will involve more intricate cleaning.

Deep Scaling (Root Planing)

Patients with multiple pockets of varying depths in the mouth may have to choose deep scaling. Deposits deep below the gum line must be removed in their case. Once the unhealthy tartar is removed, the gum healing will begin, and bleeding and swelling of the gums will reduce.

The dentist may perform this procedure on each section or partially impacted sections of the mouth. Dr. Strain’s dental office receives patients from Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and other cities and towns in The Golden State for dental cleanings.

Invisible Braces | Rancho Mirage Dentist | Palm Springs | Palm DesertInvisible braces or clear aligners are a proven and effective solution in dentistry to address the problem of crooked, misaligned or overcrowded teeth. These braces are ideally suited for kids and adults who want to avoid traditional metal braces for a variety of reasons.

Invisible braces have an advantage over metal braces not just in terms of aesthetics but also in comfort levels.

Most patients are appropriate candidates for invisible braces, and thousands of people use this orthodontic treatment every year with successful outcomes. Accomplished and terrific cosmetic dentist Dr. Rob Strain provides ClearCorrect invisible braces to patients in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and surrounding communities and towns in this part of Southern California.

Clear Correct Aligners

Clear Correct braces, as the name suggests, are clear braces that are largely invisible from the outside. While the patient is going through this treatment, their smile will not be adversely affected. These braces are created with clear plastic, which is softer on the gum tissue when compared to wires and metal brackets.

Another advantage with Clear Correct aligners is that the patient can remove them while eating or cleaning the teeth. This makes the treatment more convenient and ensures better dental hygiene because the patient can clean the teeth more thoroughly after removing the braces. Dr. Strain’s dental office provides Clear Correct because of their numerous benefits over other braces options.

Clear Correct aligners can be custom fitted to the teeth to provide an irritation-free treatment. In most cases, virtually no adjustment discomfort is involved with this treatment.

Candidacy

Both adults and teens are righteous candidates for Clear Correct aligners. Children who do not have all of their molars or elderly people with complicated oral health conditions may also be appropriate candidates for this treatment. Adults and teenagers who are reluctant to use traditional metal braces can make ideal candidates for Clear Correct.

Individuals with the following orthodontic concerns can be treated successfully with Clear Correct:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Crooked or turned (rotated) teeth

In exceptional cases of misalignment or where the bite issues are more complex, clear aligners may not be the ideal solution. In such case, the dentist may provide metal braces. But overall, many patients are well-suited for clear, removable and comfortable Clear Correct aligners.

Procedure

The treatment process with Clear Correct aligner typically lasts between one and two years, depending on the patient’s condition of teeth and how diligently the patient follows the dentist’s instructions during the course of treatment. As a first step in the procedure, the dentist will take images, x-rays and impressions of the patient’s teeth.

Based on these records and the dentist’s prescription, a 3-D replica of the teeth will be crafted in the lab. A team of experts will then develop a customized treatment plan involving step by step realignment of teeth. The patient will have access to a digital representation of the teeth.

If any adjustments are necessary, these can be made even before the actual treatment is started. Custom aligners will be fabricated with high precision using cutting edge mapping and molding techniques. Profound and focused cosmetic dentist Dr. Strain receives patients from Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and other towns and neighborhoods in The Golden State for invisible braces.

Dental Cleanings: Palm Desert | Cosmetic Dentistry | Rancho MirageFollowing the principles of preventative dentistry lays the foundation of good, sustainable oral health. Very basic routine oral health activities such as regular brushing and cleaning the teeth, maintaining a balanced diet, going for dental exams once every six months, and receiving professional dental cleanings, are a part of the preventative approach to dentistry.

Both adults and kids should ideally receive dental cleanings twice a year.

In case of elderly people and those who have an active systemic oral health concern, the dental cleanings should be more frequent. A dedicated dentist will evaluate the specific oral health condition of the patient before recommending the specific dental cleaning intervals for them.

Dr. Rob Strain is an experienced cosmetic dentist providing dental cleanings and various other oral health procedures to patients in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and surrounding locations across the landscape.

What does Dental Cleaning Involve?

A dental cleaning, clinically known as a dental prophylaxis, generally involves thorough removal of plaque, tartar and stains that are visible above the gum line. For patients with an overall healthy mouth, the dentist may reach slightly underneath the gum line with an aim to perform a more detailed dental cleaning.

For patients with a poor oral health condition where the mouth has had unhealthy pockets, or several root surfaces are exposed due to receding gums, the dentist may decide to perform dental cleanings in conjunction with more detailed and intensive oral cleaning techniques.

The judicious Dr. Strain’s dental office provides a wide range of dental cleaning options to patients in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and nearby areas. Some of the key treatment approaches include:

Gross Debridement

The process of gross debridement is aimed at eliminating significant deposits above the gum line. The patient may typically have a significant build-up of debris as well as inflamed gum tissue, particularly if they have not been to a dentist in a long time. The dentist will use an ultrasonic or piezo scaler to knock the most apparent deposits off the teeth. The patient will be required to visit for follow-up appointments to perform finer cleaning after a healing period.

Fine Scaling and Polishing

If the patient undergoes the gross debridement procedure instead of regular dental cleaning, they are likely to be recommended a follow up appointment for fine scaling and polishing. Depending on the specific case, the dentist may sometimes substitute this with a series of deep scaling appointments, which will be quite similar to a dental prophylaxis.

Periodontal Scaling

Periodontal scaling is similar to a normal dental scaling in some respects, but it is deeper and more intensive. Patients suffering from exposed roots due to gum recession will require periodontal scaling. The operating cosmetic dentist should have the skill and experience to perform periodontal scaling with delicate care in targeted sites.

Deep Scaling (Root Planing)

Deep scaling may be performed on patients with several unhealthy pocket depths in the mouth. It will eliminate deposits existing deep below the gum line. Once the tartar is removed, the gum will begin to heal and the swelling and bleeding will stop.

Diastema: Gap between Teeth Causes & Treatment

Image result for Gap between TeethGap or space between two teeth is clinically called diastema. This condition typically occurs between the two upper front teeth, but gaps can exist between any two teeth. The patient will be able to notice the gap while brushing or flossing. Alternatively, the dentist can point out diastema during a general dental exam.

It is possible to correct diastema using orthodontic or dental repair, depending on the nature and cause of the problem. Experienced and sagacious cosmetic dentist Dr. Rob Strain of Studio Dentistry provides treatment for diastema and various other oral health issues to patients in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and surrounding communities.

Causes and Symptoms

If there is a mismatch between the size of the teeth and the size of the jaw bones, it can result in the development of extra space between teeth. If the teeth are too small for the jaw bone, diastema will occur. In some cases, a few teeth may be undersized or missing, which may lead to creation of space. This is particularly common with the upper lateral incisors.

Habits such as thumb sucking and incorrect swallowing reflux can also create gaps between the teeth. Periodontal disease may cause loss of bone, leading to teeth becoming loose. This movement can create gaps between the front teeth. Diastema caused due to the mismatch between the teeth and jaw will have no symptoms. But spaces caused due to tongue thrust habit or periodontal disease will tend to grow with the passage of time.

Treatment

Many people seek dentistry solutions for diastema for reasons of appearance. However, sometimes a diastema may be a part of a set of problems that require orthodontic treatment. Braces are a time-tested solution for diastema. The patient is often required to wear a full set of braces, irrespective of the location of the diastema.

If the lateral incisors are too small, crowns, veneers or bonding may have to be applied to widen them. If the diastema has occurred due to missing teeth, the patient will need significant dental repair. This may include dental bridge, partial denture, or dental implants.

If the diastema has occurred due to a large labia frenum, a surgery may have to be performed to reduce the frenum. In case of younger children, the gap may close on its own after the surgery, but in older children or adults, surgery may have to be followed by braces treatment.

If periodontal disease has led to the diastema, the patient will require periodontal treatment. Once the gum health is restored, braces may have to be used to move the teeth into their original position. A dental bridge may be required in some cases to close the space.

If an adult has a space between the teeth or they notice a gap in their child’s mouth, they should get in touch with a dentist. Depending on the cause of the gap, orthodontic or periodontal treatment may have to be included in the overall treatment plan. Dr. Strain’s dental office receives patients from Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and nearby areas for diastema treatment.

What are Dentures made of? | Palm Springs Dentistry | Rancho MirageDentures are a time-tested teeth replacement solution in dentistry for people who have lost all or most of their teeth in the upper or lower jaw or both. Over the decades, advanced materials have become available to create more natural looking dentures that are also softer on the gums, while still providing the required stability and resilience for total oral functionality and comfort.

Dr. Rob Strain provides dentures and other dental treatments to patients in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and surrounding communities in this part of The Golden State.

Denture Plate

A full or partial plate provides the necessary framework to support the denture. Tough acrylic resin or a type of flexible nylon polymer may be used to fabricate this plate. Sometimes the plate may also be molded from chrome cobalt metal.

To fabricate customized dentures, the cosmetic dentist will first create a mold that matches with the patient’s gums and use it to build a wax model to which the artificial teeth will be added. This temporary model will be tested in the mouth of the patient to ensure the right size and shade. A plate that fits snugly in the mouth will also be created using this model.

Acrylic resin material is ideal for creating the artificial gum line of the denture because acrylic can be tinted to match with the natural color of the patient’s gums. On the other hand, if metal plates are used instead of acrylic, it has its own benefit in terms of a more robust strength and often a superior fit.

For fabricating partial plates, metal is usually preferred because these will be concealed behind the remaining natural teeth. But for full dentures, acrylic resin is a better choice because it offers better aesthetic appeal.

The dentist will explain the pros and cons of each option to the patient so that they can make the best decisions for dentures, and have a clear idea about their usability and longevity. But the life of the denture will also be impacted by how well the patient maintains their oral hygiene.

Denture Teeth

Porcelain or resin material is commonly used to craft the denture’s teeth. Porcelain is one of the most effective teeth replacement materials because of its superior resilience as well as natural aesthetics. Translucence of porcelain is similar to that of the tooth enamel, which allows for close color match of the denture teeth with the remaining natural teeth.

Strength and hardness of porcelain increases the life of the dentures. But porcelain may wear down faster if it bites against natural teeth. Therefore, in case of full upper and lower dentures, porcelain will have a longer lifespan.

Acrylic resin is another denture teeth material, which has become popular in recent years. Acrylic adheres closer to the denture base, making it easier than porcelain to achieve the required occlusion. Lighter and softer feel of acrylic also makes it a more comfortable option.

Dr. Strain’s dental office receives patients from Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and nearby areas for dentures and other oral health procedures.
